Purpose and Mission

The purpose of the Bill Petravage Memorial Foundation is to support teenagers and young adults in crisis in Western Massachusetts
.

The Bill
Petravage Memorial Foundation was founded in the fall of 2009 and Incorporated in January 2010. The foundation was created by a group of Bill's friends who are dedicated to assisting young people in crisis with the hope of reducing the number of suicides in that age group. Bill took his own life in April 2001 and the memory of that event and the feelings of loss and frustration have remained with many of the people he left behind. Rather than trying to bury those feelings or reject them some of us have decided to embrace them and put them to good use, thus the foundation.

We promote and fund organizations in Western Massachusetts that work with teens and young adults. We assist organizations that specifically combat suicide, however we recognize that there are many groups that work with teens and young adults that are in crisis, but not necessarily suicidal and those organizations will also be considered for funding. All funding decisions will be made by the foundations board of directors.
